Dunaire's Looking Rather Sheepish This Week!

If you haven't been by the community garden this week, you might want to take a stroll down Cheviot Drive this weekend.  We're lucky to have Brian Cash, owner of Eweniversally Green, as a Dunaire resident.  Brian's company provides landowners and community gardens around Atlanta with a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for clearing kudzu and unwanted vegetation without toxic chemicals or back-breaking labor.  How?  With sheep.  And goats.

Brian sets up a temporary electric fence around the area that needs to be cleared, and then his flock of sheep and goats go to work - clearing out kudzu and poison ivy in just a few days.  Brian has been kind enough to set up his weed chompers in the area around our community garden that has been aggressively invaded by kudzu and other weeds.  As the flock eats its way around the chosen area, the soil is loosened and fertilized, making it easier for less problematic plants to take root.

So, stop by and say hello to our visitors...but make sure not to touch the electric fence!  And, if you meet Brian at the site, make sure to thank him for helping to keep Dunaire a fun place to live!
